DVM Interview Tips!

Assalamualaikum!

Greetings to everyone!

Its a nice day today with a lot of things happening and changing around us. I just thought that it's time for me to bring you guys the chocolate to your milo ais kepal and the apple to your pie! Okay since kitorang the first batch UPM yang kena interview, the questions might be different from you guys but, it's nice to get a hold and a general idea kan of what its going to be about.

First of all, in case there are newcomers, I'm sorry about my language cause I'm mixing both of them like, kalau tak faham tu, guna la dictionary ke apa. 

There are few things needed to be consider before going into that interview session.
The interview we had separates us to different days depending on which route you are taking from; (Asasi, ASPER, Matriks, DKHP). And to my knowledge, the interview will be held in English and you will be going alone with some panel at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, UPM. The panels are the lecturers from the faculty as well and they change the panel every day.

Dress Up

Dress to success

Without a doubt, dressing up appropriately is essential to an interview. A different attire might be needed for different job or career. But in this case, its mainly formal.
Pakai la smart smart sikit! Bukannya selalu nak jadi kemas kemas segak segak ni kan.
Segakkan diri is one of the key of being a confident person, feels good about yourself haha cause you are one of the selected.  =)

Prepare beforehand

Fail to plan, plan to fail

Okay, ni korang kena take note. Korang kena prepare awal-awal like come out with some possible questions they might asks. You have to pandai-pandai cari sample soalan. Prepare as in sediakan diri secara mental and fizikal. Tahu nak kawal suara, macamana nak cakap depan deorang, kenali Dekan Fakulti Vet, Timbalan Dekan, Lagu ke, Misi dan Visi UPM, siapa Canselor UPM, Struktur organisasi yang tinggi tinggi.

Kena pandai ambil hati, jaga intonasi suara, panggilan hormat macamana, and what do you really want? cause they are going to filter out the one that shows the most promising.

Interview dia sorang-sorang during our time. It might not be the same but just prepare yourselves.

Practice

Practice until it becomes routine

Do I still need to emphasize this? Practice yourself. Dont be like me, I dont practice and i just barged in and boom Alhamdulillah fortunately... practice beforehand, better to be prepare than sorry later kan? Record yourself, practice in front of mirror ke, ajak orang lain menilai kau, be as comfortable as you can, peluang hanya datang sekali je so dont waste it and regret later by then it will be too late.

Pray

Lepas dah siap semua, berdoa lah yang terbaik. Pray for the best. You have done all you could, and the last step is to pray, hoping for the best. Remember that, there are many ways to become successful. I like to quote a word from Nelson Mandela, 

Courage is not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it.

Don't rely solely on this, when in doubt, trust yourself and just answer honestly. Don't treat this like SPM past years. Be genuine and not a robot

14. Do u mind handling the animals' faeces

17. Have u been to any zoo? What do u think about the zoo
18. Antimicrobial resistance and roles of vets in preventing it
19. The use of animals in lab testing, is it necessary?
20. What do you know about this faculty? What do you like the most?
21. Do you prefer to work alone or in group?
22. What do you think about working in group?
23. You said you heard from seniors about this course is difficult, what else did they told u? How much u know about our faculty?
24. What do you do if u see a pig that is on the road suffering or die..
25. How to stop stray animals from overpopulation other than neuter and adoption??
26. What are your opinion about neuter pets?
27. What animals in Malaysia are facing extinction?
28. What do you understand about zoonosis?
29. I see you are a pet lover especially to cats, what do you think on how to manage the stray cats and how to save them?
